The Kesawai live along the Ramu River, close to the Eastern Highlands border. The Ramu highway runs through their land, bringing them into constant contact with other language groups. As a result of that contact, many of the younger people now prefer Tok Pisin over their traditional language. Thank God that the growing familiarity with Tok Pisin among the Kesawai opens up access to Tok Pisin scriptures, including audio recordings. Many adults rely on Kesawai for communication and do not understand Tok Pisin.
We know very little about the daily lives of the Kesawai people.
There is a high percentage of Evangelicals among the Kesawai people. Almost all are Christian.
Kesawai people need the chance to hear and read God's word in their own tongue.
Pray to the Lord of the harvest for workers to translate God's word into the Kesawai language that they know well.
Pray for mutual respect between different generations, that God would turn the hearts of the parents towards their children and the hearts of the children towards their parents.
Pray that young people will take to heart the Tok Pisin scriptures, live accordingly and humbly share the scriptures with their parents and elders.
Pray that all Kesawai will embrace God's word and live it.
